On the occasion of French National Day, Mr Hun Sen, the President of the Senate of Cambodia, congratulated Gérard Larcher, the President of the Senate of the French Republic.
“The celebration of the French National Day on July 14 is an event held in the highest regard by all nations committed to freedom, democracy, and respect for international law,” he stated.
Hun Sen further stated that, at a time when Cambodia’s territorial integrity is under threat, the Kingdom is confident of France’s support and its institutions in seeking justice through the highest levels of international law.
The Cambodian Senate President also noted that 2026 will see the hosting of the Francophonie Summit in Cambodia—an opportunity to celebrate and promote multilateral relations between the parliaments of French-speaking nations.
“The serious global challenges we face have, until now, prevented our shared ambition to meet in Phnom Penh. I look forward to welcoming you to Cambodia in 2026,” he added. “Our two countries will elevate their relations to the level of a strategic partnership, and it would be both timely and appropriate to jointly consider a reassessment of the relationship between our two parliaments.” AKP
