Cambodia’s Agricultural Sector Attracts Major Japanese Investment

A delegation of 26 Japanese investors, led by H.E. TAKAHASHI Fumiaki, former Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia and current President of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), was received by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace on November 19, 2024.

The delegation expressed keen interest in exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s agriculture, food processing, and aquaculture sectors. H.E. TAKAHASHI Fumiaki highlighted the JCA’s efforts to promote Cambodia’s investment potential to Japanese companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The association reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) in industrial development and human resource development.

Cambodia's Agricultural Sector Attracts Major Japanese Investment

Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed gratitude to the JCA for its contributions to strengthening Japan-Cambodia relations and fostering closer ties between the two countries’ private sectors. He acknowledged the significant role of the Japanese private sector in driving Cambodia’s economic growth over the past few decades and congratulated the JCA on the establishment of its office in Cambodia and three vocational training schools focusing on automotive repair, plastic surgery, and IT engineering skills.

The Prime Minister emphasized the alignment of the JCA’s intentions with the RGC’s strategic goals of promoting SMEs in Cambodia to create a robust production chain for both domestic and international markets. He outlined the government’s policies and measures aimed at creating a favorable business and investment environment to enhance Cambodia’s competitiveness.

To further strengthen cooperation in the industrial sector and human resource development, Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged the JCA to collaborate with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to develop a comprehensive plan that addresses specific needs.
