Cambodia’s trade with RCEP countries hit $29.5 bln in first 9 months of 2025

Cambodia’s trade with the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries reached $29.5 billion in the first nine months of 2025, up 15.5 percent over the same period last year, said an official report on Tuesday.

The country’s export to the RCEP members was valued at $7.43 billion during the January-September period this year, up 10 percent over the same period last year, said the report compiled by the Ministry of Commerce.

Meanwhile, the kingdom’s imports from the RCEP member countries hit $22.07 billion, up more than 17 percent, the report added.

The report showed that the RCEP is a key market for Cambodia, accounting for 61.6 percent of its total trade volume during the first nine months this year.

Cambodia’s top five trading partners under the RCEP are China, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, and Singapore.

Cambodian Ministry of Commerce’s Secretary of State and Spokesperson Penn Sovicheat said RCEP, the world’s most significant free trade pact, has played a vital role in boosting global trade amid the tariff hikes.

“The RCEP is a catalyst for long-term export growth and a magnet to attract more foreign direct investment to Cambodia,” he told Xinhua.

Entered into force in 2022, the RCEP comprises 15 Asia-Pacific countries, including 10 ASEAN member states — Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam — and their five trading partners, namely China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Xinhua
