A total of 391 investment projects with a combined capital of about $7.6 billion were endorsed by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) between September 2023 and July 2024.
The figures were shared by Prime Minister Hun Manet in his special statement on the “One-Year Achievements of the Royal Government of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly,” broadcasted live on Thursday evening.
Most of the investments were from the US, China, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Sweden, the EU, Australia, and ASEAN member countries, he pointed out.
According to Sun Chanthol, CDC’s First Vice President, the 391 approved projects can create 340,000 new jobs.
Compared to the last 12 months of the previous government, there was an increase of 75% in terms of the number of approved projects and a surge of 161% in terms of investment capital, he said while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of KY iCenter and the launch of Picasso Sky Gemme in Phnom Penh on Thursday.
The CDC’s first vice president attributed the sharp rise to peace, political and macroeconomic stability, better legal frameworks and regulations, and the growth of the Cambodian economy.
This reflects the investors’ confidence in the Royal Government of Cambodia led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, underlined Chanthol. AKP
