The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has issued certificates for registering 22 investment projects
worth $444 million in the first 15 days of February 2024.
The approval of the projects to operate the businesses across the country was announced yesterday by CDC and most of the budget is invested heavily in the industry sector, agriculture and agro-industry sector and in the development of the country’s infrastructure which is mostly located in Phnom Penh, Svay Rieng, Preah Sihanouk and Kampong Spur provinces.
Based on CDC press release, there are four investment projects in Phnom Penh such as the establishment of the data centre and cloud services that operate in the Ressei Keo district and Daun Penh districts, the construction of a factory for making travel bags, plastic bags, car tyre protection, book covers and all kind of pads in Kam Bol district, and a project to build garment factory in Pou Senchey district for producing medical and pet clothes.
Besides, Svay Rieng – a province bordering Vietnam – received the same amount of investment projects including the construction of a factory for producing home appliances from recycled metals located in the Svay Chrom district, the establishment of three factories in the Svay Reing Giga Resource Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of which two are for making furniture, home appliances and all kinds of packing material while another one for creating light bulbs, power cords and carton boxes.
Preah Sihanouk, a coastal province that currently received a special incentive package from the government saw three investment projects of which two factories are to be built in the Prey Nob district for coconut processing, making dolls, and providing pet supplies while one important project to focus on producing sofa and furniture in Sihanoukville SEZ.
A province distance of about 100 kilometres from the centre of the country, Kampong Speu got three new manufacturers which two will be built in the Kong Pisei district for producing Christmas trees, decorative light bulbs and carton boxes thus another plant will focus on making all kind of bags and its accessories to be constructed in the Samraong Tong district.
Steung Treng, a province the Mekong River bisects, is ready to welcome two projects for the construction of a fruit farm and a pig farm which come along with their processing factories to be built in the Borei O’Svay Sen Chey district. Similarly, Takeo province also witness two investments for building garment factories in the Bati and Samraong districts.
The remaining four investment projects go to a streel business operation in the Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province, a garment factory in Ta Khmau town, Kandal province, construction of Kampong Chhang Multipurpose Port and Logistics Center in the Kampong Leng district and lastly is a project to build a factory for clothing, glove, socks, hat, bag, in the Jiangsu Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) on National Road 6, Kampong Cham province. khmertimeskh
