Crete extends tourism season

Crete extends tourism season

Crete, the flagship of Greek tourism, is extending the tourism season for another year, with the “help” of climate change, as the president of the Crete hoteliers’ association, Manolis Tsakalakis, said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.

British tour operators have already expressed an interest in transferring airline seats of prospective tourists from the high season to the beginning and also to the end of the year, Tsakalakis added.

In practice, this means that in Rethymno four to five resort hotels – besides those that operate in the city 12 months a year – will remain open until the end of November, with all that that entails for tourist flows to Crete.Unmute

There is a similar picture in neighboring Iraklio, as some resorts will receive tourists until the end of the year. This, as Tsakalakis said, is happening because TUI and Alltours have announced that their flights will carry travelers to Crete until the end of November.
