The Cyprus Information Technology Enterprises Association (CITEA) announced this week that it has signed a cooperation agreement with the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
This agreement paves the way for Cypriot IT companies to participate in the prestigious GITEX technology exhibition, held annually in Dubai.
This agreement marks a significant step forward for Cyprus’ growing tech sector, with CITEA now acting as the official representative of DWTC in Cyprus for both the GITEX Global 2024 and Global DevSlam 2024 exhibitions, which are scheduled to take place October 14 until 18, 2024.
Furthermore, the partnership is expected to extend into 2025, further solidifying Cyprus’ presence on the international technology stage.
GITEX is widely recognised as the world’s largest technology exhibition, drawing over 6,000 exhibitors from 180 countries each year.
This year is expected to attract more than 187,000 visitors, positioning it as a global platform where leading scientists, innovators, and companies showcase cutting-edge advancements in technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
As such, it has become an unmissable event for those involved in the industry.
In addition to this partnership, CITEA has been collaborating closely with Cyprus’ Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, as well as the Cyprus Trade Centre (CTC) in Dubai.
These institutions are providing financial support to Cypriot companies, covering between 50 per cent and 85 per cent of their participation costs—a commitment that has undoubtedly supported Cyprus’ consistent presence at GITEX.
The 2024 exhibition will mark the third consecutive year that Cyprus hosts a booth, with this year’s is set to be the largest ever organised by the country, reflecting the growing interest from Cypriot businesses in this event.
This agreement aligns seamlessly with CITEA’s broader mission to support its members and elevate Cyprus’ profile on the global stage.
By facilitating the participation of Cypriot companies in such a high-profile exhibition, CITEA is ensuring that the island’s tech industry receives the global recognition it deserves.
