Cyprus is participating in the World Travel Market (WTM) conference in London this week, joined by nearly 55 co-exhibitors at the ExCel exhibition centre.
According to an announcement by the Deputy Tourism Ministry, the delegation aims to showcase the country’s diverse tourism offerings through regional associations, hotel groups, and travel agencies.
The event is set to run until Thursday.
At the event, Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis plans to have strategic meetings with UK airlines and tour operators, as well as foreign counterparts.
He will also attend a ministerial panel focusing on ‘AI – Boundless Opportunities for Change in Travel’.
Koumis is accompanied by the director general and senior managers of the Deputy Tourism Ministry.
An announcement explained that the aim is “to strengthen Cyprus’ presence in the British market”.
It was also noted that Cyprus will highlight its culinary heritage with a live cooking demonstration by the Cyprus Chefs Association and a cocktail-making session based on commandaria, in partnership with the Cyprus Bartenders Association.
This engagement highlights the UK’s importance to Cyprus, as British tourists represent the largest share of visitors.
In the first nine months of the year, arrivals from the UK reached 1,129 million, up 5 per cent from the previous year.
