The Cypriot state budget for 2026 is a growth budget and continues to maintain the resilience of the economy, Finance Minister Makis Keravnos said on Thursday as he presented the budget to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou.
The House speaker noted the importance of the budget having surplus and growth, and added that the debate in Parliament will begin on October 13.
“It is a growth budget, which continues to maintain the resilience of our economy with the necessary surpluses so that are in a position to reduce the public debt, unleash the potential and strengths of the economy, and be able to offer more development, more social policy and more security for the citizens of our country,” the finance minister said.
Demetriou expressed satisfaction for the fact that the minister puts such an emphasis on social policy, adding that Parliament prioritizes support for the more vulnerable groups of society.
The 2026 budget amounts to over 10.7 billion euros, excluding amortization expenses: Budget revenue for next year is estimated at a total of €12.68 billion, while expenditure is projected to come to €10.78 billion.
