Cyprus’ airports record largest ever passenger numbers

The Republic of Cyprus’ airports recorded their largest ever passenger numbers during the first eight months of the year.

In total, exactly 8,179,421 passengers passed through Cyprus’ two airports between January and August – a 4.7 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

This figure was bolstered by the fact that more than 1.6 million people passed through the two airports in August, which constituted a 5.7 per cent increase compared to August 2023.

Larnaca airport was the big winner over the course of the year so far, with an overall 8.5 per cent increase in passenger numbers, while Paphos airport has thus far reported a slight decrease in its passenger numbers.

In total, 1.1 per cent fewer passengers passed through Paphos airport compared to the first eight months of last year.

Paphos airport’s decrease in passenger numbers come as it received harsh criticism over the summer months, with passengers complaining of overcrowding and long queues, due to the limited space available at the airport.
