Hungarian and Cypriot stakeholders gathered at the Kean factory in Limassol for a joint event on ‘Smart and Sustainable Hungarian Solutions for Agriculture and Industry’, supported by Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade under the NEXT-KPI programme.
The event was co-organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) and the Hungarian Embassy in Nicosia, in cooperation with the Enterprise Europe Network Cyprus (EEN).
It brought together policy officials, innovators and business leaders with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation on sustainability and innovation.
Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou, attended the event, alongside ambassador of Hungary to Cyprus, Krisztina Lakos, who underlined the importance of building closer partnerships between the two countries, particularly in fields such as agrotechnology and sustainable industrial development.
The gathering also attracted figures from Cyprus’ business and investment community, including Keve secretary general Philokypros Roussounides, Kyriakos Attouni representing Invest Cyprus, and Reka Sarkadi, Cyprus’ Consul for Trade with Hungary.
All echoed the need to deepen cooperation and unlock new opportunities in the green tech sector.
Among the day’s highlights were live demonstrations of Hungarian-made drone technologies. ABZ Innovation’s L30 V2 model sprayed an orange grove with precision, while its multi-purpose C10 drone carried out tasks including photovoltaic panel cleaning, facade washing and even car cleaning on site at Kean’s facility.
Meanwhile, BioNat Ltd. showcased its portfolio of sustainable agricultural solutions, focused on enhancing soil fertility and crop productivity using natural, eco-friendly methods. The company forms part of Hungary’s expanding ecosystem of agri-tech developers, increasingly aligned with Europe’s climate and food security goals.
Alongside the tech displays, the event featured B2B meetings aimed at fostering commercial partnerships between Cypriot and Hungarian enterprises.
According to the organisers, the initiative reflects a broader strategy to support joint ventures that promote smart, green transitions in both countries.
