Cyprus celebrates Epiphany day amidst clear skies

Cyprus celebrates Epiphany today. Amidst clear skies, as forecasted by the Meteorological Department, worshippers are flocking to churches in preparation for the blessing of the waters. However, for those daring enough to dive for the cross, the Department predicts the sea will be slightly choppy, with conditions locally rough in the eastern areas.

Celebrations for the Epiphany are taking place across all cities in free Cyprus, as well as at the occupied Holy Trinity of Karpassia. As announced by the local community, the service will be conducted by the Bishop of Karpassia, Christoforos.

The Divine Liturgy is set to begin at 8:00 AM and conclude around 10:30 AM, followed by the traditional blessing of the waters at the Saint Thyrsos cove.

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, and the President of the House of Representatives will attend the official Theophany celebrations in Ayia Napa. The Archieratic Concelebration will be led by the Archbishop of Cyprus at the Church of the Panagia. Following the Divine Liturgy, the blessing of the waters will take place at Ayia Napa’s small harbour.
