President Nikos Christodoulides announced on Monday that the Cabinet has approved an Easter allowance of 250 euros for low-income pensioners, reflecting a 30% increase from last year’s payment.
Speaking at the Presidential Palace during a cabinet meeting, Christodoulides highlighted that the decision would benefit “more than 11,000 low-income pensioners” across the country.
“I would like to remind you that our decision has resulted in a 30% increase from last year, from 190 to 250 euros,” Christodoulides told reporters.
The President framed the increased allowance as part of a broader social welfare strategy, noting that it “demonstrates the particular sensitivity we have towards our low-income pensioners” and follows “other decisions that have been taken” to strengthen social safety nets.
