A trial operation period for Cyprus’s competitive electricity market begins today, the country’s Transmission System Operator (TSO) announced.
The operator will host two training seminars on the Market Management System (MMS), with Energy, Commerce and Industry Minister George Papanastasiou attending the first session.
The seminars, scheduled for 7 and 9 January at TSO’s new building, will be open to legal entities and individuals who have received readiness certificates for the Trial Operation Period.
The first seminar on 7 January will focus on economic market operations within the MMS and is open to all trial period participants regardless of their role. Participants will receive hands-on training with the system during the session.
The second seminar on 9 January will specifically address Real-Time Balancing Market operations, targeting producers capable of receiving and executing dispatch orders. Renewable energy producers and aggregators will receive their balancing market training during the first session.
Participants must bring their own computers and valid system credentials to access the MMS during the training. Each organisation may register two representatives plus one alternate, who may be included based on space availability.
Priority for in-person attendance will be given to entities that did not participate in previous trial operations and those accessing the MMS through its graphical user interface rather than system integration. Other interested parties can join remotely via Microsoft Teams if physical spaces are filled.
Attendance at both seminars is optional.
