The Cypriot cabinet has approved the government’s new 2.5-million-euro subsidy scheme aimed at supporting the purchase of electric and hybrid vehicles in Cyprus.
The plan, funded from the state budget, was a key commitment by Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades and is designed to make clean mobility more accessible to the public. The new program will offer grants and incentives for both new and used electric and hybrid vehicles, with the goal of expanding access to electric mobility across more income groups.
A total of 260 grants will be made available under the new plan, matching the amounts offered in the previous scheme. Importantly, citizens who ordered a vehicle after the last subsidy round ended will also be eligible to apply.
Minister Vafeades emphasized that promoting electric mobility remains a top government priority as Cyprus moves to meet its environmental goals by transitioning to cleaner forms of transportation.
Before the launch of this new round, authorities also announced that 97 unused grants for vehicles and 18 for electric motorcycles, left over from earlier applications that were either canceled or incomplete, will be redistributed under the third call of the previous EV promotion plan.
