Cyprus reports growth in key economic sectors for 2024

Cyprus experienced growth across a number of key economic sectors, according to the state statistical service.

In its latest report, which analysed monthly economic developments from January to December 2024, the service provided a comprehensive overview of the most recent economic trends in Cyprus.

The report included a comparison of data from the past four years, incorporating figures available up until February 11, 2025.

Manufacturing production increased by 1.8 per cent from January to November 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

The total area of approved building permits reached 1.72 million square metres between January and August 2024, marking an 18.0 per cent rise from the corresponding period last year.

Total motor vehicle registrations increased by 9.1 per cent, reaching 49,616 for the January to December 2024 period.

Private saloon cars rose to 34,254, an increase of 11.2 per cent, while light trucks climbed to 4,638, registering a 36.1 per cent rise compared to 2023 figures.

The Consumer Price Index rose by 1.8 per cent in 2024 compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, total imports of goods for January to December 2024 amounted to €12.26 billion, reflecting a 7.0 per cent decline.

What is more, exports also fell to €4.12 billion, a decrease of 12.5 per cent.

Tourist arrivals saw an upward trend, reaching 4,040,200 between January and December 2024, compared to 3,845,652 in 2023, reflecting a 5.1 per cent increase.
