Dara Sakor airport begins engineering flight inspections

Dara Sakor International Airport in Koh Kong province’s Botum Sakor district began a two-day test of flight engineering inspection and calibration from September 29-30 for domestic aircraft flights in late November.

Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation (SSCA) and representative of Dara Sakor International Airport of Investment Group Union Development Group inspected the progress of flight inspection at the airport.

The test was conducted for flight checks, air navigation equipment, radio communication with pilots and other technical parts, State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) spokesman Sinn Chanserey Vutha said.

“If nothing changes, the launch of domestic small light aircraft at Dara Sakor International Airport could take place by November end,” Vutha told Khmer Times on Sunday.

The airport is built on 218 hectares and has set aside nearly 1,000 hectares for the development of various support projects.

Currently, the airport is about 100 percent built and is technically sufficient to operate domestic flights, according to the spokesman.

The airport is capable of accommodating 4E aircraft, from small to medium-sized aircraft.
