DPM Sun Chanthol holds talks with Atlantic Council delegation in Washington DC

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol held talks earlier this week with a delegation of the Atlantic Council of the United States, led by its President and CEO Frederick Kempe, to discuss and exchange views about investment opportunities and potential in Cambodia.

According to the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), Sun Chanthol, also the CDC’s First Vice President, highlighted the bilateral relations and cooperation between Cambodia and the US, adding that the latter has remained Cambodia’s largest export market.

The CDC first vice president also briefed the US side about the growth of private investment in the 7th-mandate Government and Cambodia’s favourable investment environment, such as a target investment hub in the ASEAN region, interconnected physical infrastructure, young and dynamic labour force, competitive markets, FTAs and RCEP, plus the CDC’s readiness to facilitate all investments in Cambodia with its CDC Investment Project Management, so-called cdcIPM, a technology system that allows all investors to register their investment applications from anywhere in an easier and time-saving manner, as well as the Cambodia-US Public-Private Sector Dialogue.

For his part, Frederick Kempe, accompanied by Jim Jones, CEO of Jones Group International; William Heidt and Patrick Murphy, former US Ambassadors to Cambodia; and many other key American investors, praised Sun Chanthol for his “knock-on-door” mission in the US and agreed to further promote Cambodia’s investment potential, particularly in the areas of technology, telecommunications, and food.

On the same day, Sun Chanthol also met with Ted Osius, President and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), and an American delegation from five private companies to find ways to further promote and expand investment in Cambodia. AKP
