A group of foreign tourists from Russia and Kazakhstan arrived in Preah Sihanouk province on Friday, via charter airline, Sunday Airlines.
The arrival of the first chart flight was greeted by senior officials of the province. Passengers on board were welcomed with flowers and Khmer scarfs as gifts and Chhay Yam traditional dance.
The arrival of this group of international visitors signifies a growing interest in Cambodia’s tourism sector among Eastern European travellers, said Mr. Long Dimanche, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk province.
“They chose the location of Preah Sihanouk province to relax as a family with both old and young and young children. Preah Sihanouk is a beautiful area with many islands, all of which are attractive,” he said.
This is the first time since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic that such a large number of foreign tourists visit the province through airport.
In the coming days, more charter flights carrying foreign tourists from Eastern Europe are also scheduled to arrive in Cambodia, added the deputy governor.
