French company Aerix Systems and Cypriot firm SignalGeneriX Ltd have formalised a memorandum of understanding to co-develop a multi-purpose, dual-use drone solution at the France-Cyprus Innovation and Cooperation Forum.
The agreement combines Aerix Systems’ omnidirectional drone platforms and proprietary autopilot with SignalGeneriX’s advanced digital signal processing, communications and artificial intelligence technologies.
The signing took place at the French ambassador’s residence in Cyprus on 14 November. French Ambassador H.E. Clélia Chevrier Kolačko and Dr Panagiotis Hadjipavlis, director of the armaments and defence capabilities directorate at Cyprus’s Ministry of Defence, attended the ceremony.

Joint development framework
The collaboration establishes a self-funded framework for joint development, prototyping and demonstration of dual-use unmanned aerial systems. These include a counter-UAS (C-UAS) drone integrating SignalGeneriX’s embedded AI capabilities with Aerix Systems’ technologies.
“This partnership reflects our determination to bring together Europe’s best technological capabilities around a shared vision: autonomous, sovereign, and interoperable systems,” said Hugo Mayounove, co-founder and president of Aerix Systems. “By combining our omnidirectional propulsion technology with SignalGeneriX’s mission electronics systems, we are paving the way for a new generation of agile, multi-mission effectors.”
Dr Tasos Kounoudes, chief executive of SignalGeneriX Ltd, said the company was proud to combine its technologies with Aerix Systems and support the growing Cyprus-French innovation and cooperation in the defence domain. “Our AI Edge mission computer is a tangible innovative result of the European Defence project LOTUS supported by the Cyprus ministry of Defence, which drives defence innovation in Cyprus,” Kounoudes said.

European defence projects
Aerix Systems and SignalGeneriX are also working with other European partners on a European Defence Fund project focused on swarm autonomous systems called PLEIADES to create new disruptive technologies. The Cyprus Ministry of Defence supports the project.
