The Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus has described the achievement of the government’s goal of creating conditions for full employment within the first two years of governance as a significant labour achievement with a strong positive impact on the economy and society.
More specifically, in a post on X, the Presidency reports that unemployment was limited to 4.9% in 2024, marking the lowest performance since 2008, while employment reached 79.8%.
As written in the post, “In 2024, employment reached 79.8%, which is the highest percentage recorded in history, while unemployment was limited to 4.9%, marking the lowest performance since 2008.”
Achieving the government’s goal of creating full employment conditions within the first two years of governance, the post notes, “is a significant labour achievement with a strong positive impact on the economy and society.”
The state will move ahead, “by strengthening the connection of human resources with the labour market, promoting vocational training and utilising employment support programmes, with the aim of further improving labour market conditions and maintaining positive results,” the post concludes.
