The government has encouraged investment companies to further introduce the latest technology to Cambodia while promoting training and equipping Cambodian workers with technical skills, as well as exploring opportunities to expand investments in the country.
The call was made by Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodia Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the specialised equipment testing centre of Te Zhong Shebei Jiance Yanjiu Yuan Co (Cambodia) in Phnom Penh.
“The rise of industrialisation, as well as the growth of real estate and infrastructure in Cambodia, has led to a dramatic increase in the use of special equipment such as steam boilers, pressure vessels, elevators, and heavy lifting equipment,” he said.
In this context, he stressed that regular inspection and testing of such specialised equipment are crucial, especially for protecting the lives of those who use them regularly.
“Therefore, I understand that this special equipment control centre is a new achievement for Cambodia. This centre will be an important part of the ecosystem of the real estate industry and infrastructure to ensure that the special equipment used is in line with international standards and with high safety,” he said.
The centre was established to conduct inspections and testing of specialised equipment, contributing to enhancing safety standards in the use of such equipment by implementing advanced technology from China in Cambodia.
Vuthy stated that the inspection centre is a significant milestone for Cambodia and will become a key component of the industrial, real estate, and infrastructure ecosystem. It will ensure that specialised equipment meets international standards and maintains high safety levels.
The decision to invest in the establishment of this specialised equipment inspection centre in Cambodia aligns with the government’s efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens who regularly use such equipment. Each year, the company will train approximately 300 Cambodian employees in technical skills, in addition to managing about 30,000 operational employees.
The rise of industrialisation, coupled with the rapid growth of Cambodia’s real estate and infrastructure sectors, has led to a significant increase in the use of specialised equipment. In this context, conducting proper inspections and testing of the specialised tools is crucial in protecting the lives of workers who rely on them daily.
In his speech, Sat Samy, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), congratulated the inauguration of the Specialised Equipment Testing Centre (Cambodia). He emphasised that the ministry will remain committed to the development of the centre and will fully support its testing operations.
The ministry will gradually prohibit the use of hazardous equipment that presents significant safety risks. The official emphasised that the testing centre must be operated by an experienced institution and must be closely supervised by the government.
The institution’s testing activities should adhere strictly to established standards and technical specifications. This collaborative effort seeks to ensure the safety of specialised equipment in Cambodia and foster the safe and orderly development of the industrial sector, he added.
