Green moves make Cyprus more competitive

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides told businesses this week that their green transition is the route to improved competitiveness, and stressed that Nicosia supports investments that promote energy efficiency.

Today, more than ever, Cypriot businesses are called upon to strengthen their role in the green transition, while remaining competitive, adopting responsible and sustainable practices that contribute to addressing the multi-level challenges, the president said.

He added that industry, a key pillar of economic development, is a sector with significant energy consumption. But he went on to note that the implementation of energy efficiency improvement technologies, the use of energy management systems, as well as the utilization of green forms of energy in industrial facilities, not only achieve a substantial reduction in consumption and environmental footprint, but in the long term, also practically strengthen the competitiveness of Cypriot industry.

In his address Christodoulides also said that his government, among other things, promotes investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, as well as in smart systems and innovative technologies.
