The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices rose by 0.4% between May 2024 and May 2025, according to data published by the Statistical Service.
Between April 2025 and May 2025, the HICP went up by 0.2%. Comparing the period between January-May 2025 with the same period of 2024, the HICP recorded an increase of 1.8%.
Compared to May 2024, the largest increases were recorded in the categories Recreation and Culture (7.7%) and Restaurants and Hotels (5.2%), while Transport recorded the largest decrease (-6.5%).
In comparison to April 2025, the most significant increase was observed in Clothing and Footwear (2.6%) and the largest drop in Transport (-4.4%).
For the period January – May 2025, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the most significant increases were recorded in the categories Recreation and Culture (7.3%) and Restaurants and Hotels (5.3%), while the largest drop was recorded in Clothing and Footwear (-5.6%).
The most significant change in economic categories, both compared to May 2024 and April 2025, was observed in Energy, where a significant fall of 11.4% and 1.7% was observed, respectively.
