His Excellency Dr.(Kette Sedtha Bandet) Cheam Yeap, First Vice President of the National Assembly, said that the establishment of the Cyprus Honorary Consulate in Phnom Penh will help strengthen friendship and bilateral cooperation.
His Excellency Dr.(Kette Sedtha Bandet) Cheam Yeap, First Vice President of the National Assembly, considered the establishment of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in Phnom Penh as an important moment in strengthening the friendship between the two countries, Cambodia and Cyprus. The confirmation takes place on the occasion of allowing His Excellency Mr. Sala Essa, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus, Cambodia to pay a courtesy call and discuss the work on the morning of December 13, 2024 at the Parliament House.
His Excellency Dr.(Kette Sedtha Bandet) Cheam Yeap, First Vice President of the National Assembly, states that the new consulate can also be defined as a hub of diplomatic, cultural and economic exchange, encouraging deeper understanding and cooperation between the two nations and countries. At the same time, the Cambodia will continue to strengthen and expand its diplomatic relations through engaging activities and hosting the International Parliamentary Forum aimed at contributing to promoting peace, stability and development in the region and globally.
His Excellency Dr.(Kette Sedtha Bandet) Cheam Yeap, First Vice President of the National Assembly, also made speeches regarding boosting tourism, air connectivity by direct flights from Cyprus to Cambodia and boosting the trade size of the two countries which is yet to be even better, while the potential of the two countries is vast in almost every sector. His Excellency Dr.(Kette Sedtha Bandet) Cheam Yeap has requested through H.E. Consul General to review the feasibility of both government and other frameworks to provide scholarships in Cyprus and provide more opportunities to Cambodian students to continue their studies in Cyprus.
His Excellency Mr. Salah Essa, Honorary Consul General of Cyprus Republic of Cambodia, noted that Cambodia has developed a lot, especially Cyprus-Cambodia signed a brother city agreement between Phnom Penh and Lanaka to change the relationship between tourism, culture and politics. His Excellency continued that the people of Cambodia and Cyprus are equally open-hearted and friendly, hoping that we will further strengthen diplomatic relations together. HHis Excellency Dr.(Kette Sedtha Bandet) Cheam Yeap said that the Parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia is always ready to work closely with the Parliament of Cyprus to strengthen the friendship and cooperation of the two Parliament in the future.
