Cypriot agency recognised for promoting investment in Mediterranean region
Invest Cyprus on Thursday announced that it has being re-elected to the board of the ANIMA Investment Network.
Launched in 2006 within the framework of the Barcelona Process-Euromed partnership, ANIMA has grown into a network of 70 member organisations across 20 countries.
It has a team of over 400 experts and partners, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to drive economic growth and innovation in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The organisation is involved with business networks, government agencies, diaspora communities, and international organisations.
Invest Cyprus’ re-election was described as “another significant success for Cyprus” by the agency.
The voting process took place during the network’s general assembly on December 4.
“Represented by investment promotion advisor Jovanna Yiousselli, this re-election is a major acknowledgment of Cyprus’ strategic role in the Eastern Mediterranean region and of the recognition that Invest Cyprus enjoys in the fields of investment promotion and international cooperation,” the agency said.
Moreover, the agency said that the re-election of Invest Cyprus CEO Marios Tannousis to the ANIMA board is a “great distinction and honour, effectively rewarding the efforts made in recent years to enhance Cyprus’ global investment profile”.
It addd that “this term comes during a period of heightened international visibility for Invest Cyprus and signifies the trust placed in our country as a central investment hub in the Mediterranean region”.
During the general assembly, the new ANIMA presidency for the 2025–2027 term was also elected.
In its announcement, Invest Cyprus extended congratulations to the network’s president, Tarak Chérif (of Tunisia’s CONECT Organisation), on his re-election.
It also congratulated the vice presidents, Vasso Kyrkou (from Greece’s Enterprise Greece SA) and George Katinis (representing Syria’s SEBC), as well as the treasurer, Ramy Boujawdeh (of Lebanon’s Berytech Foundation).
“Invest Cyprus’ participation in this dynamic network bolsters Cyprus’ position as a leading figure in the international investment community, creating new opportunities to attract foreign investment, foster synergies, and promote the Cypriot economy,” the announcement stated.
Moreover, the agency said that “Invest Cyprus has forged strong collaborative ties with ANIMA”.
It explained that these range from “supporting investment initiatives to co-developing innovative projects”.
It cited as an exampled the Euromed-ihouse initiaitve, which aims to establish a hub connecting businesses and investors in the Mediterranean region to facilitate knowledge, technology, and resource transfer.
“This initiative is a benchmark for enhancing competitiveness and supporting regional economic integration,” the agency said.
Meanwhile, Invest Cyprus CEO Marios Tannousis, stated that “our re-election to the ANIMA board is a significant success for Cyprus and Invest Cyprus”.
He also said that “collaboration and the exchange of good ideas and practices with leading counterpart organisations in the Mediterranean are crucial for sustainable development and the creation of new investment opportunities”.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to further strengthen Cyprus’ position as a strong and reliable investment destination,” Tannousis added.
The agency concluded by saying that “this achievement reflects the continuous effort and commitment of Invest Cyprus to enhance Cyprus’ international presence and its dedication to advancing Euro-Mediterranean cooperation”.
