The Japan-Cambodia Association office, officially inaugurated on Monday in Phnom Penh, will play an important role in attracting more Japanese businessmen and investors to Cambodia, said Heng Sour, Minister of Labor, Vocational Training (MLVT).
Presiding over the official inauguration ceremony of the Japan-Cambodia Association Office, Sour said the establishment of the Japan-Cambodia Association Office in Cambodia marks the fruitful of Cambodia-Japan relations as the two countries recently upgraded their comprehensive strategic partnership to the 70th anniversary of relations in 2023.
“The Japan-Cambodia Association Office will play an important role in providing more information to Japanese investors about Cambodia’s opportunities and potential,” Sour said.
It will also be a bridge of communication with the ministries and institutions of the Cambodian Government, which are all key points that serve the investment, he added.
The ceremony was also attended by Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia Ueno Atsushi and high-ranking officers of the association.
The Japan-Cambodia Association Office president Takahashi Fumiaki said in late January that it will play an important role in attracting Japanese investors to Cambodia by helping to promote the investment potential in Cambodia to Japanese companies, especially small and medium enterprises.
He said the association is encouraging Japanese small and medium enterprises with professional and modern technology to invest more in Cambodia to promote more investment in collaboration with relevant ministries and institutions.
Japan is Cambodia’s fifth largest trading partner after China, the United States, Vietnam and Thailand.
