Japanese companies show continued interest in investing in Cambodia

Prime Minister of Hun Manet, received a courtesy call from a delegation of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) led by Mio Kawada, Executive Vice President of the JETRO, at the Peace Palace yesterday.

During the meeting, Kawada praised the Government of Cambodia’s efforts to improve the investment climate in Cambodia.

Kawada informed the premier that this is the second time that JETRO has organised a business mission in Cambodia, this time with 19 Japanese companies interested in investing in Cambodia in various fields, including green technology and carbon credit through new and modern Japanese technology.

The Prime Minister welcomed the continued interest of Japanese companies in seeking investment opportunities and connecting with business partners in Cambodia. He expressed support for Japanese companies’ interest in clean energy and carbon credits, which is in line with the government’s policy of ensuring sustainable development and setting a goal of promoting clean energy to 70% by 2030.

Mr Hun Manet also recommended the establishment of a working group with representatives of relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to coordinate with JETRO and interested Japanese companies, as well as discuss further work on green technology and carbon credit.
