Japanese firm eyes investment in Cambodia’s cashew processing sector

Nippon Koei Business Partners Co., Ltd., a Japanese company, has evinced interest in investing in Cambodia’s cashew sector for export, with a particular focus on processing cashew nuts and shells into vinegar and oil, while the remaining waste will be used as animal feed for cows.

The company’s interest was expressed on Thursday during a meeting between Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodia Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and Tsutomu Tamura, Deputy General Manager of Nippon Koei Business Partners Co., Ltd., who intends to study Cambodia’s cashew sector, according to news released by CDC.

As a starting point, Tsutomu expressed his interest in investing in the cashew sector for export, with a focus on processing cashew nuts and shells into vinegar and oil, while the remaining waste will be used as animal feed for cows.

During the meeting, Vuthy briefed the delegation on the potential of Cambodia’s cashew sector, highlighting the key provinces for cashew cultivation and the maximum benefits of cashew processing.

Vuthy also encouraged the company to make investment decisions quickly, as the Cambodian government is currently prioritizing the cashew processing sector.
