The Korean Water Resources Corporation, known as K-water, a Korean government agency responsible for comprehensive water resource development and the provision of both public and industrial water in South Korea, is exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s water resource management sector.
Yun Seog-dae, President of K-water and Chairman of the Asian Water Council (AWC), and his delegation met with Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace on Friday morning.
Yun Seog-dae briefed the Prime Minister on the fruitful cooperation between K-water and relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions.
In response, Mr Hun Manet expressed his high appreciation for the past collaboration between K-water and the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly in the field of water resource management.
Mr Hun Manet encouraged K-water to continue working with relevant ministries and institutions to study water resource management in Cambodia in line with the Royal Government’s policies.
He emphasized the importance of a comprehensive assessment of the strengths and impacts of projects on society, the economy, and the environment.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the Royal Government’s objective of ensuring a highly efficient water resource management system to guarantee sufficient water availability during both the rainy and dry seasons, benefiting the people.
He also stressed the goal of developing an ecological system that supports the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors, while managing the risks of floods during the rainy season and droughts in the dry season.
