Despite cancellations by Israelis who had arranged holidays in Cyprus during recent days, Larnaca hotels are now overbooked due to the arrival of significant numbers of foreign nationals seeking flights to return home.
Information from competent sources indicates that since yesterday, occupancy rates at all hotel units in the city and tourist area have exceeded 95%. The remaining rooms are minimal, with many wishing to stay temporarily turning to other cities.
Several of the approximately 1,600 passengers have arranged accommodation in Larnaca, mainly Americans, Canadians and Australians who arrived this morning at Larnaca port aboard the Crown Iris vessel, which is expected to transport Israelis to Haifa via Limassol port tomorrow.
Israeli nationals arriving mainly from European countries since morning are also seeking accommodation in Larnaca, hoping to eventually find tickets to return to their country.
