Larnaca to create ‘smart parking system’

Larnaca to create ‘smart parking system’

The Larnaca municipality has announced the signing of a contract worth around €600,000 to create a “smart parking system” in the town.

The contract was signed by the town’s mayor Andreas Vyras and electrical contracting company YTM Stavrides.

It foresees the creation of a system which will include “advanced management software, which allows easy and effective management of parking spaces, the application of dynamic pricing, as well as special arrangements for special groups of visitors”.

The implementation of dynamic pricing will mean that parking in Larnaca will be more expensive at busy times.

In addition, the smart parking system will bring an end to the practice of printing paper parking tickets, with a mobile application set to be created instead.

“By adopting a ticketless system, the municipality aims to increase the efficiency and ease of use of public parking spaces. Through a special mobile application, people will be able to be informed in real time about the availability of parking spaces, making the parking experience faster and more enjoyable,” the municipality said.
