The Polish airline LOT has announced the resumption of its flights to Larnaca Airport, with four per week during the winter season. According to a press release from the deputy Ministry of Tourism, LOT intends to increase the frequency to six flights a week during the summer season in 2025.
In addition to LOT, flights between Poland and Cyprus are also operated by Wizzair, Ryanair, Enter Air Spolka, and Buzz Air. This highlighted the significance of the Polish market, which has become the second-largest tourist market for Cyprus, experiencing sustained growth over the past two years, said the deputy ministry.
Last year, 273,000 tourists arrived from Poland, a significant increase on the 186,000 in 2022. By June of this year, 110,000 Polish tourists had already visited Cyprus, a 21.9 per cent increase on the corresponding period of 2023.
The deputy ministry said that other airlines have boosted Cyprus’s air connectivity. Cyprus Airways operates from Barcelona, EasyJet from Amsterdam, Wizzair from Milan, and Royal Jordanian from Amman. Notably, Wizzair has increased its flights from 11 different airports.
Deputy minister of tourism Kostas Koumis emphasised the crucial role of air connectivity in the smooth operation of a destination, particularly for an island like Cyprus. He assured that the deputy ministry was making sontinuous efforts, in cooperation with the transport ministry and the Hermes Airports to improve the country’s air connectivity.
Koumis expressed his delight at LOT’s decision to resume flights to Larnaca year-round after a two-year hiatus. “The decision of LOT to resume year-round flights to Larnaca after a two-year break makes us very happy, as does every new route added by any airline,” he concluded.
