A breakfast meeting held on Monday at the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur brought together prominent leaders from the Malaysian and Cambodian business communities.
The event focused on exploring opportunities and strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
The meeting was honoured by the presence of Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, along with a delegation from the Cambodian Oknha Association (COA), which hosted the event.
The delegates engaged with Malaysian business leaders representing various companies including MMAG, Revenue Group, Velocity Capital Partners and others, focusing on discussions on strategic investment opportunities in Cambodia.
During the meeting, Rithy Sear, Vice Chairman of the Cambodia Oknha Association, emphasized the country’s robust growth and favourable climate for foreign investment.
“It is the right moment to invest in Cambodia. Our country is experiencing robust economic growth, driven by a young and dynamic workforce, a favorable investment climate, and strategic government policies,” Rithy said.
“The business environment is open and transparent, with predictable policies that support foreign investors.”
Rithy pointed out the strength of the labour force, remarking that the labour force “is increasingly qualified and adaptable, making Cambodia a competitive choice for manufacturing and services”.
“Setting up a new company in Cambodia is much more agile than in many neighboring countries. The process is streamlined, and the government is committed to supporting foreign businesses every step of the way.”
The currency stability and the strong regulatory foundation was brought up as another key benefit for new investors. “Investment is easy in Cambodia, and the stability of the currency provides confidence for foreign investors.
“The investment law offers a range of tax incentives and benefits, ensuring a solid regulatory framework for all types of investments.”
Rithy also mentioned the potential of Cambodia as a logistics and connectivity hub to the Malaysian investors.
“We are actively looking into developing Cambodia as a logistics hub and expanding our free trade zones. These initiatives will further enhance our connectivity and attractiveness for international business.
“The country is ready to welcome Malaysian investors and provide all necessary support for long-term success and growth.”
