Cham Nimal, Minister of Commerce, has encouraged investment in the electric vehicle (EV) market, highlighting the potential to reduce costs, enhance energy efficiency, and lower emissions, benefiting both consumers and the environment.
The Minister made these remarks while presiding over the official launch of the Peugeot 408 2025 Series, which took place at the Premie Centre Sen Sok on 14 March. The event was attended by Jacques PELLET, Ambassador of France to Cambodia, along with other dignitaries, business leaders, and guests.
She emphasised the vital role of private sector investment and public-private partnerships in driving national economic and social development.
The Ministry of Commerce is dedicated to fostering fair competition to stimulate innovation, productivity, and economic efficiency, she stated.
As Chairwoman of the National Committee for Intellectual Property Management and the Cambodia Competition Commission, Cham Nimul outlined key initiatives such as promoting fair business practices by preventing anti-competitive activities and establishing mechanisms for efficient and flexible negotiated settlements of Competition Law violations.
Regarding the launch of the Peugeot 408 2025 Series, the Commerce Minister commended RMA Cambodia for its business growth and decision to expand the Peugeot brand’s presence in the Cambodian market.
RMA Cambodia’s establishment of a car assembly plant, which has created numerous jobs and enhanced the competitiveness of the Cambodian automotive market, has benefited consumers by providing quality vehicles at reasonable prices, adequately meeting diverse needs and preferences, she underlined.
