The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) yesterday announced its public telephone system aimed at providing a hotline call centre, responding to urgent requests and getting feedback from the local communities which is in line with the Pentagonal Strategy that focuses on the digitalisation of people and institutions.
The announcement was made by Penn Sovicheat, Secretary of State and Spokesperson of MoC during a meet in Phnom Penh.
Sovicheat said that the public telephone system hotline number is 1266 – both English and Khmer – with 60 officers from related departments of the ministry who would be ready to answer all your questions and inquiries.
The hotline was created to connect the government services closer to the local people in order to respond to their urgent requests and get feedback from the local communities which is in line with the Pentagonal Strategy – phase one that focuses on the digitalisation of people and institutions.
He continued that the 1266 hotline is free of charge and available from Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with six options, option one is for general information, two is for business registration, three is for brand registration, four is about export and import information, number five focuses on consumer protection, competitive tasks and crackdown of fraud cases.
He emphasised that number six is the most important option as it allows the communities as well as the reporters and media to get in touch with the group of the spokesperson of MoC hence they will be able to provide updated information as well as help the caller to connect to other relevant ministries and institution.
When Khmer Times asked if the system would accept questions from the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the MoC Secretary said that over 90 percent of business operations in our country are MSMEs hence the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has set priority to support them more closely than before.
In case MSMEs want to expand their shops or business operations as well as need more financial support, they can call 1266 and then press number six. The inquiry will come to the spokesperson team and we will suggest how and where to get help as RGC has implemented many policies and projects to facilitate them through collaboration with banks, stakeholders and partners, he added. khmertimeskh
