National Strategy on Cruise Tourism put to public consultation

The Deputy Ministry of Shipping has announced that it has launched a Public Consultation for the adoption of a National Strategy on Cruise Tourism.

“In recognition of the capabilities and potential of cruise tourism to reinforce economic growth, create new jobs and promote Cyprus’ culture, but also the advantages and particularities of Cyprus as a destination, the Government is making known that it is conducting a Public Consultation with stakeholders with the aim of adopting a National Strategy for Cruise Tourism,” an announcement signed by Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis said on the deputy ministry’s social media pages.

It said the aim is to approach the matter in a comprehensive way, analysing and mapping the current situation to begin with, and then developing an action plan with specific implementation timeframes. The goal, it added, is to identify the comparative advantages, opportunities, weaknesses, shortcomings/omissions, so as to ensure the best possible framework for cruise tourism.

The Public Consultation will continue until 6 September 2024. For more information, contact the Deputy Ministry of Shipping at apavlides@dms.gov.cy. It is noted that comments can only be submitted via the public consultation platform at www.e-consultation.gov.cy.
