Lots of local talent at revamped Fengaros Festival 2025
With summer just around the corner, it is time to start looking ahead to the epic summer festivals that will fill the cultural agenda. One of them is Fengaros Festival, an institution that has never been a stranger to reinvention. Its 13th edition this year signals a true shift.
From July 31 to August 2, the festival migrates to the woods of Kornos, transforming the Lumina Botanical Gardens into a sonic playground. Five stages, over 60 performances – a radical reimagining of what a summer festival can be. This year, Fengaros once again blurs the boundaries between the local and the global, spotlighting Cyprus’ vibrant music scene alongside a curated roster of international trailblazers.
The 2025 line-up is as ambitious as it is eclectic. British pop disruptor Beth McCarthy headlines, bringing her infectious hooks and undeniable energy to the island. Greek rap luminary Taf Lathos delivers razor-sharp, socially-charged lyricism, while Rotterdam’s post-punk juggernaut Tramhaus promises to shake the festival’s foundations. Athens’ Billie Kark crafts a set that blends electronic elements with poetic flair; US activist and artist Madame Gandhi brings percussive urgency and feminist anthems; Spain’s Merina Gris melds electro-pop with magnetic stage presence. From Greece, Usurum’s atmospheric folk and Thrax Punks’ Balkan-punk hybrid return to the Fengaros fold, joined by genre-bending newcomers Kadinelia, the hypnotic Alkyone, and the dynamic rap of Aeon.
Cyprus’ own talent is front and centre at this year’s festival. Della, on the cusp of her debut album, George Solonos with his cinematic alt-rock, local rock veterans Mirror, and rising acts like Pappupapa and Buzz will be present. Each night will surge with sets from LA producer St. Mary, the Eastern-electronic textures of Kobrah Habibi, Greece’s high-energy Autow Nite Superstore, and a series of local DJs like NANA, Penny K, Aparapira Parape, and Socrates who will keep the forest pulsing into the early hours.
Fengaros isn’t just a festival – it’s an immersive arts experience. This year’s programme weaves in contemporary dance, live podcasts, workshops, comedy and music. Festival-goers can take advantage of organised camping beneath the pines, free drinking water throughout the site, and full amenities.
This summer, Fengaros arrives refreshed and re-imagined at a new location and a line-up that refuses to be boxed in.
