New Phnom Penh International Airport over 64% work completed

of State and Spokesperson for Civil Aviation, confirmed on February 15, 2024, that Techo International Airport (TIA) is scheduled to be operational by the end of the first half of 2025, while construction is more than 60 percent complete.

This statement was made during a visit to the progress of the construction of Techo Takhmao International Airport (TIA) under the leadership of Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation, on February 15, 2024.

Chanserivutha confirmed that the construction work achieved by the company (Phase 1) as of February 8, 2024 accounted for 64.1% of the total work, with a total cost of $932 million.

He said that the construction of the road connecting Samdech Blvd. on National Road 2 to the airport, which is 60 metres wide and 13.5 kilometres long, has reached 85%.

Chanserivutha pointed out that the construction of Techo International Airport started in 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024 (Phase 1) (according to the updated master schedule), which was last updated by CAIC/CCambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd., if nothing changes.

Techo International Airport is a 4F-class airport that can absorb and receive long-distance intercontinental flights and can accommodate giant aircraft up to the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800. The investment company has ambitions to develop the new airport into the largest and most modern airport in Asia. Fresh News
