Paphos’ park of colours now open

Paphos’ municipal ‘park of colours’ was inaugurated on Sunday, coinciding with the city’s flower festival.

The event began with a procession of floats and a children’s parade in the new urban green space, which was buzzing with music, dance and creative and sports activities throughout the day.

Paphos mayor Phedonas Phedonos said the project combined urban regeneration and the creation of modern infrastructure for recreation, sports and cultural activities.

The design, he added, met the needs of Paphians and visitors of all ages.

The park covers an area of 32,000 square metres and cost €3,062,375.

It includes playgrounds, sports fields, a skatepark, a climbing wall, a botanical and aromatic garden, landscaped relaxation areas, meeting areas and a cafeteria.

The space has been designed with environmental criteria and with the aim of offering a daily outlet for entertainment, sports and social interaction to the residents and visitors of Paphos.

The park of colours, according to the municipality, is part of a broader strategic plan to upgrade the urban environment and enhance the cultural identity of the city, with the aim of improving the quality of life and strengthening the relationship between people and public spaces.
