Paphos presses ahead with plans for €9.2 million linear park

A large environmental and social initiative for Paphos and its neighbouring urban areas is advancing as architectural plans are being drawn up for the Eastern Linear Park.

Situated along the borders of Paphos, Geroskipou, and Konia, the park will extend from the Limassol-Paphos motorway’s terminal roundabout to the Limnaria area in Kato Paphos.

The project was unveiled by the Paphos Municipality in early August at the Attikon venue, where it was described as one of the most significant undertakings in the region.

The natural stream running east of Paphos, which marks the boundary between Paphos Municipality and Eastern Paphos Municipality, will be revitalised and made accessible to the public.

The park will cover a total distance of 6.5 kilometres, including branches, and will offer facilities such as a playground, pedestrian walkway, bicycle path, outdoor gym, sports and relaxation areas, information points, and parking spaces.

It will serve as a natural extension of the coastal promenade connecting the seafronts of the two municipalities.

The project’s estimated cost is around €9.2 million, not including land expropriation costs, which have yet to be determined.
