Paphos tourism board reintroduces free Akamas tours

The Paphos Regional Tourism Board (Etap) has announced the return of free tours to the Akamas communities for the next three months, aiming to highlight points of interest and boost visitor numbers.

According to the announcement, this initiative is part of the support measures for the Akamas communities announced by the President of the Republic of Cyprus. This effort is financially backed by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.

The tours will take place every Saturday throughout October, November, and December 2024.

The excursions will start at 9:15 a.m. from the bus stops at the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park and will be conducted by bus.

Moreover, the tour will travel along the coastal area and through the Peyia forest, with the first stop being the community of Pano Arodes.

The tour will also include a visit to the Akamas Geology and Palaeontology Information Centre, where visitors can explore exhibits showcasing the geological history and palaeontological finds of the Akamas Peninsula.

A quick stop will then be made at the village square of Arodes for a short break.

The next destination is the community of Ineia, where participants will visit the local Turtle Museum.

This will be followed by a stop in the village of Droushia at the Akamas Rural Life and Traditions Information Centre, where workshops and live demonstrations of local arts and crafts will be offered.

At midday, the tour will continue to the nearby village of Kathikas for a visit to the Akamas Avifauna and Flora Visitor Centre. Afterwards, the board said, there will be free time for lunch at a local restaurant, coffee, or a stroll.

At 15:30, the group will then depart for Paphos, with an estimated arrival at 16:15 at the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park car park.
