Park and ride services for Larnaca, Limassol

Larnaca and Limassol are due to get park & ride services, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades said on Monday, announcing they are looking for the appropriate areas in each city.

For Larnaca, he said that authorities are looking to create a park & ride near the Rizoelia roundabout, which leads to the highway towards Nicosia.

“Our goal is to find as many places as possible,” the minister said.

He added that in Larnaca there is also a planned space to be used in Kalo Chorio area.

In Limassol, Vafeades said that there is an ongoing discussion with the Polemidia municipality to find an area to create the system.

He added that there are already three spaces for park & ride in Limassol and there is a plan to create more.

“The idea is to turn these areas into hubs,” the minister said.

Regarding the park & ride, the minister added that it would be linked with local transport, but also with a new intercity express service that is due to start in September.

Park & Ride has been operating in Nicosia for the past year, with its first day being September 7, 2023.

The new bus lane and park and ride system operates from Monday through to Friday, running from 6.30am until 6pm.
