PM: France remains one of Cambodia’s largest trade and investment partners among European countries

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that France remains one of Cambodia’s largest trade and investment partners among European countries. In the first five months of 2024, Cambodia-France trade volume reached $206.41 million.

The premier spoke on Monday during the 2nd Cambodia-France Business Forum opening at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

“France remains a key partner in trade and investment for Cambodia among European nations. Cambodia-France trade volume has steadily increased, achieving $515.21 million in 2023 and reaching $206.41 million in the first five months of 2024,” the premier underscored.

He noted many French companies, ranging from Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), have established operations in Cambodia. These include Vinci, Total Energies, Accor, BRED Bank, and various SMEs controlled by French entrepreneurs.

In addition, the premier highlighted that French investment has significantly contributed to job creation, skills transfer, and infrastructure development, laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth in Cambodia.

Over the past two years, bilateral relations between France and Cambodia have flourished, marked by several official visits from senior Cambodian leaders to France, including PM Hun Manet’s visit on 18-19 January 2024.

During this visit, seven agreements were signed across key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and distribution, signaling a new era of cooperation between France and Cambodia. These agreements underscore the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to enhancing the private sector.Fresh News
