Prime Minister Hun Manet Wednesday greenlighted the Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation’s proposal to invest in Cambodia’s aviation industry.
Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is a leading aircraft manufacturer based in the United States that specialises in developing luxury private jets.
The decision was taken during a meeting between Mr Hun Manet and a delegation led by Julien Nargeot, Regional Vice-President of Sales for Southeast Asia, Pacific, Australia and New Zealand at the Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, in the Peace Palace.
Nargeot told the Premier that the Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation intends to take part in the development of the aviation industry in Cambodia.
“The initiative aimed at contributing to the expansion of flight connectivity and tourism sector in the region and the world,” he said.
Responding to the interest from the American aircraft manufacturer, Mr Hun Manet pointed out the sustainable and resilient economic growth in the Kingdom, citing a set of development projects that the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) is implementing to accelerate the development of priority sectors nationwide.
Underlining the significant growth of the aviation industry in Cambodia, Mr Hun Manet said the timely investment will provide a range of opportunities and advantages for the Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.
He encouraged the American business delegation to discuss and work closely with relevant ministries, institutions and partners to examine the possibility of investing in potential areas of the Kingdom’s aviation sector.
Appreciating Cambodia’s rapid development across the sectors, Nargeot told the Premier that the Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is one of the leading suppliers of aircraft in the United States, well-known for its design and production of high-class business jets.
Speaking to Khmer Times, Dr Sinn Chanserey Vutha, Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) said, “The American jets manufacturer is seeking an opportunity and support in premium charter services, connecting Cambodia to the region and beyond.”
Noting the demand for high-class services, this US company is keen on providing charter flights to facilitate the transportation of top diplomats and businessmen to several areas including Singapore, Europe and the United States, he added.
Based on SSCA, Cambodia is home to three international airports such as the Phnom Penh International Airport, the Sihanoukville International Airport and the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) – which recently celebrated its first anniversary on October 16.
It may be informed that Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation’s most renowned aircraft models including the G650, G700 and G800 are celebrated for their exceptional speed, comfort and state-of-the-art avionics. With their impressive long-range capabilities, these jets are frequently chosen for international travel, making them a preferred option for global business and luxury aviation.
