This afternoon, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged Filipino businessmen to further explore investment opportunities in Cambodia.
Speaking at the Philippines-Cambodia Business Forum in Manila, as part of his two-day official visit on February 10-11, Hun Manet stated that while Cambodia is small, it possesses a big heart and is eager to welcome all foreign investors.
“The Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to diversifying trade and investment, leveraging our comparative advantages, which include robust infrastructure development initiatives, enhanced regional connectivity, free trade agreements, a skilled workforce, and a dynamic domestic market. Cambodia also offers a range of attractive investment opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation,” the Premier remarked.
Hun Manet emphasised key sectors for investment, including milled rice, tourism (including direct flights), and skills development.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chair of ASEAN-BAC Cambodia noted that while bilateral trade between the two countries remains modest, he believes it will grow significantly over the next four years.
“Our current bilateral trade is approximately $110 million. This figure is considerably below its potential. With confidence, I assert that our two countries can elevate bilateral trade to exceed $800 million in four years. Today’s Forum represents the first step in that journey,” he emphasised.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng highlighted that both nations have substantial potential for partnership, particularly in agri-processing, hospitality, real estate, education, and manufacturing sectors.
He also stated that Cambodia is an appealing destination for trade and foreign direct investment due to its pro-business environment, political stability, young and dynamic workforce, and strategic location at the heart of ASEAN, with access to over 180 million people, alongside its immediate neighbours Vietnam and Thailand.
