Royal Group to launch Kingdom’s first private jet charter services

Local business conglomerate, the Royal Group of Companies launched the Kingdom’s first private charter jet service during an official ceremony last week, including a maiden jet flight departing from the Phnom Penh International Airport hosting various dignitaries, stakeholders and guests.

The private charter jet service will operate under the group’s subsidiary, CamJets Royal Group.

During the launch ceremony on August 21, CamJets Royal Group announced its plans to operate under its own Cambodian air operator certificate (AOC).

Once into operation, the company will represent the nation’s first Cambodian-based and certified business charter specialist service.

According to ch-aviation, a Swiss data service company (DaaS) focused on the international aviation industry, the demo flight which took place in last week’s official inauguration used a Challenger 3500 N996CL type aircraft.

However, according to an interview by ch-aviation with the CamJets firm, the company is currently still evaluating two older generation private jets for the charter service’s full launch, including the Challenger 605s or Learjet 60XRs models.

Kith Meng, Chairman & CEO of The Royal Group, addresses the launch ceremony of the Kingdom’s first private charter jet service in Phnom Penh. Fresh News

The company said that the final decision on which aircraft the service will ultimately offer customers will be decided following upcoming investor prospect meetings.

CamJets will also include a fractional ownership programme for potential investors, according to the ch-aviation report.

According to the CamJets Royal Group, the company is entering the Kingdom’s growing aviation market as a business charter specialist, primarily targeting both luxury tourism travellers as well as business people and dignitaries.

The private jet services are designed to provide tailored and upscale travel experiences, enhancing the country’s tourism offerings by providing exclusivity and convenience to local and international guests.

According to Kith Meng, Chairman & CEO of The Royal Group, as detailed on the CamJets official website, “CamJets is a venture set up by the Royal Group that has now identified a pressing need for Cambodia’s business leaders to effectively manage their time when they travel across the world on business.”

World leaders also use private jets to manage their time more effectively, he added.

Meng said that alongside these factors, limited air connectivity, infrequent and inconvenient schedules and long waits at airports mean that such travellers’ valuable time is often wasted on travel.

He went on to add that “while there is significant demand for charters there is no private jet service that operates from Cambodia.”

He said that due to this gap in the market and ongoing demand for such services, the Royal Group undertook over a year of market studies related to the charter aviation sector before it decided to launch the CamJets business this month.

According to the CamJets official website, the future of private jet services is also a bright one, given global business trends.

A study by Nexa Advisors cited by the company revealed that companies using business jets grew their revenue by 23 percent more than non-users, and saw an 18 percent higher market capitalization within their enterprises.

This underscores the importance of private jets in driving business efficiency and success, according to the company.

The website also said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Cambodia to become Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing economy by 2025.

However, for the country to continue to achieve such growth, access to global markets becomes an imperative, it said.

CamJets confirmed that with limited commercial air connectivity, business and political leadership will naturally use private jets on charter to make the best of their time.
