Hun Sen, President of the Senate, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting greater participation of women in public administration.
The statement was made on Wednesday during a meeting at the January 7 Palace with a delegation from the Cambodian National Council for Women (CNCW), led by Ing Kanthaphavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs and Chairwoman of the CNCW.
According to Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, Hun Sen recommended that the CNCW propose to the Royal Government an increase in gender representation, including the appointment of at least two female deputy governors at the sub-national level and ensuring that women make up 50 per cent of new government recruits.
He expressed his vision for the next 20 to 30 years, hoping to see women play an even greater role in national development.
Following the meeting, Hun Sen shared on his social media that he had handed over approximately two hectares of land, valued at around $10 million, which was initially reserved for the Bayon TV Station in the Chroy Changvar area. The Ministry of Women’s Affairs will now utilise the land to construct a dormitory for 500 female students, along with a health centre. AKP
