The new Techo International Airport will conduct a test flight of the A320 wide-body aircraft on August 15, 2025, and two other wide-body aircraft early next month, according to Oknha Charles Vann, Managing Director of Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd.
His statement was made during the ceremony to move the Buddha Statue , made of copper and metal, 9 meters high and weighing 9 tons, onto a throne for installation in the premises of Techo International Airport, Takhmao City, Kandal Province, on the morning of August 8, 2025.
Speaking to reporters, Oknha Charles Vann stated, “We are preparing to conduct a test using the A320 large aircraft on August 15, and there will be another major test using two large aircraft, Singapore Airline and Air Cambodia, in early September.”
Oknha Charles Vann said that Techo International Airport has already signed agreements with two other airlines, which are ready to join in flying between September or October.
According to Oknha Charles Vann, Techo International Airport has already undergone two technical tests, and the Civil Aviation Authority has also recognized and issued a license.
Oknha Charles Vann confirmed that the construction of the Techo International Airport in Takhmao City has been completed 100%, both in terms of technology and management and the new airport is scheduled to open on September 9.
In addition, Oknha Charles Vann confirmed that airlines at Phnom Penh International Airport are also preparing to transfer to Techo International Airport.
Techo International Airport will be operational on September 9, 2025. The official inauguration ceremony of Techo International Airport will be held on October 20, 2025, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
Techo International Airport is built on a total area of 2,600 hectares, located 19 kilometers from Phnom Penh.
It is classified as a 4F airport and is being developed in three phases.
The investment budget for the first phase is $1.5 billion, excluding the airport land.
Techo International Airport is a 4F type, large airport that can absorb and receive flights from far and wide, allowing giant aircraft up to Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800 to land.
