Theo Evan to represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2025

Cyprus on Monday became the first country to announce the name of its entry into the 2025 Eurovision song contest, with Theo Evan set to represent the island in Basel.

Theo Evan is the stage name of Nicosia-born singer Evangelos Theodorou.

Theodorou went to the English School, where he sang in the school choir, before moving to the United States to study music and performance at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

He then released his first single, ‘The Wall’, in 2021, before appearing as an extra in television series ‘Euphoria’.

His Eurovision song will be released at a later date.

He will be Cyprus’ 41st entry into the contest, with Eleni Foureira’s ‘Fuego’, sung in 2018, having been the country’s best ever performance, narrowly missing out on winning the whole contest and finishing in second place.

Last year, Australian-born Silia Kapsis finished in 15th place with her song ‘Liar’.

Next year’s contest will be held in the Swiss city of Basel after Swiss singer Nemo won last year’s edition with their song ‘The Code’. The final will take place on May 17.
